Welcome summer 2022. We have now reached one of the most popular seasons thanks to the heat kissing our skin, days at the beach and the many summer looks we can create.
One of the most popular trends is boho chic. But let’s find out where this genre originated, why it is so loved by women in particular, and how it can be contextualised.
- Origin of the boho chic style;
- History of the boho chic trend;
- The main elements of the boho chic style.
What are the origins of the boho chic style?
Etymologically, the term ‘boho’ is an abbreviation of bohemian. The noun is associated with Jesus Christ, William Shakespeare and later also with Sherlock Holmes. Prominent personalities of the past defined a true bohemian as someone who could appreciate beauty on a courtly level, without limitations and mental constraints.
The French term ‘chic’ comes directly from the 19th century and means elegant. Placed immediately after the term boho, it takes on a meaning of fashionable and very sophisticated style.
A little back in time: the history of the boho chic trend
The boho chic style sees a great influence from the hippy genre, present in the late 1960s. Caring for the soul, using sustainable materials and promoting ethical morality became synonymous with the boho chic style. The first to sport a fully boho look in public were Sienna Miller at the Glastonbury Festival in 2004 and Kate Moss in 2002, the trend becoming synonymous with the actress herself.

What does the boho chic style consist of?
The first shop windows completely influenced by this style made their appearance in the United Kingdom, in London starting in 2005. The elements that characterise the boho chic style are long skirts, white or coloured by ethnic effects, fluttering and light, cowboy-style boots. Wide bags, soft or rigid, in fabric or straw.
Fratinardi succeeds in creating your boho chic summer look in a simple way and with garments that can enhance not only your body but also your personality. The dresses in the Anna Molinari by Blumarine collection are light and fresh, in cotton and viscose, amidst lace and old-fashioned details. As are the fluttering dresses from the new Odi Et Amo line that reflect the fantasy of the style, colourful and floral.
Boots, sandals or sabots, the footwear proposed by Fratinardi for a perfect boho chic look are many. Dakot Boots close a style with long skirts or short jeans, to be a perfect cowgirl. Markò sandals, made entirely of leather in brown colours or Espadrilles wedges, are perfect footwear for summer 2022. Patterns and colours are increasingly easy to match thanks to soft shades and sophisticated designs. The much-criticised slave sandals are back in the limelight. Referred to as ‘slave style’ or strappy, they are back to being a certainty and even though a year has passed, it is a trend you won’t forget. It’s a beautiful interplay of strong but inconspicuous designs, thanks to a detailed selection of sandals and brands – such as NeroGiardini – you will no longer find the hideous marks on your calves, as 100% leather guarantees comfort.
Now you will be ready to create your boho chic look for summer 2022. A unique and personal style for an evening at the beach, a walk along the coast or why not, for a ceremony with a hippy style.
