Pitti Uomo 2023 – Fratinardi
Pitti Uomo, do you know what we are talking about?
Pitti Uomo, one of the world’s biggest fashion events, commonly known as ‘Pitti’, is held at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. named after one of the most famous Florentine palaces.
Pitti Uomo is an event dedicated to what is called men’s ready-to-wear fashion, i.e. the garments most quickly ready for the market next season. Compared to the most spectacular fashion shows of the various international fashion weeks, it features clothing brands and their products destined for the market. It is organised by a company called Pitti Immagine, and twice a year (in January and June) it hosts Italian and international companies presenting their collections for the coming year to the press and buyers. During the four days the fair is held, collateral events, fashion shows and installations by designers and menswear brands are also organised, involving other parts of the city of Florence.

Pitti Uomo 2023, the power of colour in all the collections
As of today, the Fratinardi.it online shop and shops are preparing their windows to present the S/S 2023 collection. A riot of colour that invites you to experience a spring and summer with vitamin shades and pantones. In our research at Pitti Uomo 2023 we find a strong similarity between the seasons, especially in the colours chosen. Sometimes one thinks of winter or autumn with dull colours lacking iridescence. But the A/W 2023-24 collections are a eulogy to colour and the emotions that a design can arouse through yellow, orange, green even in winter months.

Pitti Uomo 2023, let’s take a look at the clothing and footwear collections of important designers from the world of men’s fashion and beyond.
Pitti Uomo 2023, knitwear is an indispensable garment
The star of this edition of Pitti Uomo 2023, as far as clothing is concerned, is definitely knitwear, which represents the direction of the new men’s fashion for autumn winter 2023/2024, manifesting warmth, softness and simplicity. The general reference is a little bit to the non-conformism of the 1970s, even though today nothing is standardised. Classic sweatshirts are replaced by jumpers with a hand-knitted or felted effect. Each piece of knitwear is designed to be unique, enriched with coloured cashmere yarns, creating unique patterns and textures, or relying on customised dyeing processes, as proposed by the Avant Toi brand, with garments that are hand-painted or sprayed like paintings.
The new taste is more rustic, recalling the bond with nature and life in the open air, and a special space is left for those ‘zero impact’ fabrics, i.e. made using organic fibres and natural manufacturing and dyeing processes, which give the garment an added value thanks to the irregularities and uniqueness of the non ‘serial’. The men’s suit will be a hybrid of sartorial tradition, comfort and material experimentation: Tombolini, for example, will focus on Zero Gravity fabrics, i.e. where the yarns are made from a perfect mix of stretch wools, cashmere, silk and cottons, to give warmth, comfort and practicality to the wearer, while maintaining the rigour of the classic men’s suit. The turning point will therefore be durable, soft, sustainable garments, against disposable fashion.
Pitti Uomo 2023, with Antony Morato, art mixes with fashion
Antony Morato takes us on a journey through space and time, from the 60s to the 90s, with a focus on Pop culture, looking at art, music, architecture and even comic strips of the various decades, launching a fundamental message: art and fashion can be combined. These concepts are channelled into iconic garments, such as ‘psychedelic’ shirts, oversized t-shirts in technical fabric embellished with aggressive strokes of colour.
Pitti Uomo 2023. Welcome back Prince of Wales
Another focus of attention goes to the ever-present Prince of Wales, which is revisited in shape and colour, and takes over garments such as oversize jackets (also in velvet), and coats. Maxi prints with bold colour combinations or more traditional micro-prints will be the main mood of the outerwear. The Filson company produces the Mackinaw Wool Cruiser, made of a patcwork wool, which has only one aim: to represent a type of outdoor clothing that is indestructible, warm but trendy. The company also offers jackets that are resistant to rain, snow, abrasion, padded and always colourful.
The codes of classic men’s wear are also reinterpreted by the Lebole company, with the ‘Green’ capsule collection, an eco-sustainable fashion project in which fabrics are reused by regenerating them, respecting the circular economy. The result is garments that are meant to be eternal, that do not wear out within a couple of seasons; everything is eco, even the details that enrich the garments, buttons, labels and hangers.
As far as accessories are concerned, special attention will always be paid to the choice of materials used: ultra-light soles even for the chubby-bottomed trainers, the use of materials hitherto not considered, thus contributing to the reuse of otherwise forgotten resources such as old jeans, eco-friendly nylon, pieces of bubble wrap used in packaging, canvas, sacks used in shipping, are the real protagonists for footwear collections such as that of A.S. 98.
