Where was the Black Friday born?
This special Friday comes the day after the Thanksgiving day (celebrated the fourth Thursday of November in USA and in Canada), and it’s the day when, according to a tradition established in the ’60s, the American retailers propose special discount to promote the shopping and let the Christmas atmosphere begin.
Why black?
For this question we have two possible explanations. The first concerns the retailers who filled in the registers with a red pen for the expenditures and a black pen for the revenues. On the Friday after the Thanksgiving day, the accounts wew definetely black. The second theory concerns the chaos of this particular day, with the traffic in the streets and in the stores full of people crazy for the shopping.
In these last years, to promote the sales, there’s no more one only day for the Black Friday but more. Indeed, Fratinardi celebrates this day from 21 to 30 November in the stores, and from the 29 November to the 1 December online.
